Service has no age limit. That’s the beauty of it.
Children can make cards for hospitals, collect canned goods, or help neighbors in small ways. Teenagers often bring energy, positivity, creativity and more to the table. Young adults mentor others, help out at events, and create real meaningful impact. But it doesn’t stop there. Adults continue to make a difference through mentorship, nonprofit leadership, advocacy, and more hands-on volunteer work. In fact, older adults bring forth the wisdom, insight, and experience that a lot of organizations rely on.
Every generation brings something uniquely different to the table.
It also creates something powerful between age groups – connection. Younger volunteers learn from older generations, while other adults are inspired by the passion and fresh perspectives from younger age groups. Service has a way of bringing people together in an often divided world, and who may have never crossed paths otherwise.
No matter your age, you have something to offer. You don’t need to be old enough to lead a major organization or event. You don’t need decades of experience. And, it’s never “too late” to start giving back.
Because at the end of the way, serving isn’t about your age, it’s about willingness.
